DriveAwake Privacy Policy
Last updated: 4 October 2026
DriveAwake (“the app”) analyses the front camera image to detect possible signs of tiredness while you drive. It is designed so that your data never leaves your phone. This policy applies to the DriveAwake app for Android.
Summary
- The app does not collect, transmit or share any personal data.
- Camera images are processed on your device and discarded immediately.
- The app has no Internet permission, no account, no ads and no analytics.
Camera use
- Images are analysed only on your phone.
- No photo is saved and no video or audio is recorded.
- Each image is discarded as soon as a few numeric measurements have been taken from it: how open your eyes and mouth are, the position of your head and the light level.
- The camera only turns on when you tap “Start trip” or “Calibrate”. While it is on, a persistent notification says so, and monitoring continues while other apps are on screen until you stop it.
Data sent to us or to third parties
None. The app does not request Internet access, uses no servers, and contains no advertising or analytics tools. It needs no account or sign-up.
Data stored on your phone
- Your settings: sensitivity, vibration, voice, volume and time between alerts.
- Three calibration numbers that adapt detection to your face.
- A numeric summary of each trip: date and time, duration, number of alerts, yawns, long eye closures, times the face was lost and maximum risk level.
This data contains no images, stays on your device and is not shared with anyone.
Deleting your data
- Trip history: Settings → Delete history.
- Everything else: uninstall the app, or use the Android settings (Apps → DriveAwake → Storage → Clear data).
Because no data leaves your phone, there is nothing for us to delete on your behalf.
Permissions
- Camera: to analyse your face.
- Notifications: to show that monitoring is active and let you stop or silence it.
- Foreground service (camera): to keep monitoring while another app, such as navigation, is on screen.
- Vibration: to alert you.
Safety notice
DriveAwake is a preventive, complementary assistance tool. It is not a medical device, it does not guarantee that tiredness will be detected, and it is no substitute for rest. If you feel sleepy, stop in a safe place.
Children
The app is intended for drivers. It collects no data from anyone, including children.
